About this blog

We write articles mainly about visitor management, which helps you to know who is (or has been) in your facility. It is just part of an organization’s physical security processes that protect people and property within and around a building or campus.

Family-owned company celebrates 56 years of business

by Andrew Jones

Last month our parent company celebrated its 56th anniversary in business.

In all kinds of economic environments, Data Management, Inc., based in Farmington, Connecticut, has been able to launch new products into new markets worldwide via new distribution channels. The company’s biggest and fastest-growing sellers come out of its security-oriented Visitor Pass Solutions division, which comprises three innovative product lines:

  • One Day” time-expiring visitor badges change color overnight to prevent unauthorized usage.
  • Easy-to-use “eVisitorPass” visitor management software provides reliable cloud-based data access and convenient reporting.
  • Two-part Registry Books let visitors sign-in and badge themselves, while making a private duplicate record at the same time.

In addition to innovation, a Data Management hallmark is its open, family-like culture. “We spend the best hours of our day at work,” says Chief Executive Officer Dan Hincks, a Farmington native. “So we encourage our associates to make the most of their time here and to treat everyone they meet with respect and compassion.” Not surprisingly, our customer-focused service is one of the most appreciated aspects of doing business with our company, based on comments we receive nationwide.

Data Management was founded by Robert Hincks (Dan’s father) and David de Rham in 1961 with the introduction of a simplified, high-quality bookkeeping system. The company grew by developing other product lines — business checks, medical forms, and gift certificates — and most recently launched its successful Visitor Pass Solutions line.

The company’s 40-plus employees observed its anniversary with lunch and outdoor activities on the grounds of Camp Courant, a 123-year-old summer day camp for Hartford, Conn., youth. Hincks made a brief speech to the gathering, concluding with this: “As we look to the future, we are excited to continue adding value for our customers by developing new, innovative products, delivered with world-class service, that make a difference.” For additional information about DMI, please visit DataManage.com.

Employees of Data Management, Inc., enjoyed a field day at Camp Courant to celebrate the company’s 56th anniversary as a family-owned Farmington business.
