Emergency preparedness event in early April
by Andrew Jones
Security professionals around Connecticut will gather at Infinity Music Hall in Hartford on April 3rd for a complimentary “Lunch & Learn” presentation on the topic of emergency preparedness for an active-shooter event — from the perspectives of both law enforcement and victims — by two representatives of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
FBI Special Agent Judy Eide and Courtney Litowitz, FBI New Haven Victim Witness Specialist, will make the presentation. It includes a brief FBI training video called “The Coming Storm,” a film that draws on real-life active shooter incidents. Designed for first responders and law enforcement professionals, this movie helps make security professionals more aware of what first responders encounter, why they approach scenes the way they do, and how civilians can assist law enforcement before, during, and after these events. Viewers will then be better equipped to create their own best practices for their employee, company, and business continuity plans moving forward.
“We have set aside time after the presentation for a question-and-answer session,” said Ron Coleman, National Account Executive with Visitor Pass Solutions, the event sponsor. “Of course, this is a great opportunity for attendees to network, as well.”
“Being a family-owned business in Farmington, Conn., for 56 years,” said Noel Turner, VPS’s Vice President of Sales, “we like to periodically sponsor informative talks to area security professionals.”
